Do Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed Meals conform to the National Dysphagia Diet Guidelines?

YES – All Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed meals conform to the Level I Dysphagia Puréed & Mechanically Altered diet guidelines.  

 

Are Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed Meals only for people with Swallowing Disorders (Dysphagia)?

No, Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed Meals can help with a number of medical conditions including recovery from Dental Surgery, or surgery to the throat for example. 

 

What makes Mom’s Meals different than other programs?

Three things make Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed Meals different:

FRESHLY Made and Delivered meals that stay fresh for 14 days in the refrigerator (40°F), due to break-through “Fresh-Lock” packaging, which allows you to eat any meal anytime you desire.

Unlike other commercially available puréed foods, Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed Meals are made and delivered Fresh and ready to go into the refrigerator (not frozen or as a powder or granulated crystals that must be reconstituted).

Why are Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed Meals shipped Fresh and not Frozen?

Receiving meals that are fresh and able to be stored in the refrigerator helps with food quality.  It takes only a couple of minutes to completely heat our puréed meals, while a frozen meal might take up to ten minutes.  This prolonged heating damages the food quality and nutritional aspects.    

 

Do I need to prepare anything to eat Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed Meals?

No preparation required!  All you need to do is follow the suggested heating time on the label of each meal, warm it in the microwave or oven, and you have a fresh, nutritious meal to enjoy!

 

How can I prepare the meals so they are most appetizing to me?

We have seasoned our meals to appeal to a variety of customers, but we know everyone’s tastes vary.  You can flavor our food to your preference, heat and serve the meals so they are most appetizing to you.  

 

How does the food stay fresh and safe in the refrigerator for 14 days?

We utilize a break-through European technology that creates a “Fresh-Lock” from the time we place the meals in the sealed containers and chill them, until they get to your home and you immediately place them in your refrigerator.   As long as you keep the “Fresh-Lock” sealed and your meal below 40 degrees in your refrigerator, your meal will maintain that fresh-made taste for 14 days.   It’s similar to the “lettuce in the bag” packaging that you see in your supermarket, but enhanced for longer freshness.   All our meals are USDA inspected, and we do continual meal safety testing to ensure your food is safe.

 

How does the food stay fresh during shipping without being frozen?

Our “Fresh-Lock” packaging, combined with our proprietary gel packs and innovative cooler packing, are used to keep your food at the right temperature during shipment.

 

How do I know the Nutritional Facts of each meal?

Refer to the label on the top of each entrée for specific nutritionals.  All of the Nutritional Facts are here on our website.  If you need more information, our call center (877-971-6667).  Our Customer Service Representatives can either provide more or can contact one of our Registered Dietitians.

 

Where are Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed Meals made?  

All Mom’s Meals NourishCare Pureed meals are made in our USDA approved kitchen in Grinnell, Iowa.

 

Are the Kitchens USDA-Approved?

YES.  A USDA Consumer Safety Inspector is on site every day.  

 

Are Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed Meals kosher certified?

At this time, NourishCare Puréed Meals are not kosher

How much do the meals cost?

Each meal is $7.99 plus a one-time shipping and handling fee per order of $14.95 for shipping. Each order can contain a minimum of 7 meals and up to a maximum of 21 meals. Ordering the maximum number of meals per shipment (21) is the best value

Do you deliver a meal every day?

We can ship meals weekly or bi-weekly, based on your choice, in a climate controlled cooler.  You can order anywhere from 7 up to 21 meals per shipment. Your meals will stay fresh for 14 days in the refrigerator (40°F), until you are ready to microwave them.

 

Can I order food for my parents if they live in another state?

Yes!  We can set up different billing and shipping addresses and can deliver to all 48 continental US states, even to the most remote addresses, but not to Alaska and Hawaii.

 

 

Packaging and Delivery:

 

What will I receive in my Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed Meals shipment?

You will receive the meals you ordered with a list of each item.  We will also include a Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed Meals full menu to make it easy for you to select meals for your next shipment.

 

When will my order be delivered?

Upon placing your order, our sales associate will let you know when you should expect delivery of your fresh meals. When ordering online, you can select a preferred delivery date. Deliveries are made by FedEx.

Do I need to be home when the shipment is delivered?

No, you don’t need to be home at the exact time of the delivery because the food is packed for freshness in a special climate-controlled cooler to last on your doorstep until you arrive home (any time of year!); however, the food needs to be put in the refrigerator the same day and immediately once the shipping package is opened.

 

How does the food stay fresh during shipping without being frozen?

Our “Fresh-Lock” packaging, combined with our proprietary gel packs and innovative cooler packing, are used to keep your food at the right temperature during shipment.

 

Do you use dry ice to keep my food refrigerated during shipping?

No. We have a custom designed insulated refrigerated delivery container that uses refrigerant gel packs. The gel packs are designed to fit our container and ensure the food will remain at a refrigerated temperature throughout the course of shipment. The number of gel packs within the container will vary throughout the year due to varying outside temperatures.

 

Are the shipping materials and the meal packaging recyclable?

Yes. The contents are completely recyclable. You should check with your town to be sure you are recycling the materials properly. We continually look for ways to improve our packaging, so please note that these materials are subject to change.

- Cardboard is recycled board

- Insulating foam liner is polystyrene #6, containing no CFC’s

- Meal containers are PET #1 and BPA free.

- Plastic air-filled pillow cushions and plastic bag around meal containers are LDPE #4

Can I reuse the frozen gel packs that are delivered with my food?

The gel packs are reusable; just leave them in your freezer for future use.  If a gel pack melts, lay it flat when refreezing.  IMPORTANT, if you want to dispose of the gel packs, do not pour the contents into the drain, as they contain a material (“super-absorbent”) that can clog drains; dispose of them in the trash.

 

Can Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed Meals be delivered to an apartment?

Yes.  The driver will deliver the package to your door, if it is accessible.  If not, and there is an office that accepts deliveries for your apartment building, the FedEx driver will leave your package there.  If neither of these options is available, the driver will leave a note for you stating they will try to deliver your package the next day, or someone will need to pick it up at a location they will provide.  Your meals are packed so they will stay fresh, but should be refrigerated immediately as soon as the shipping package is opened.

 

Can Mom’s Meals NourishCare Puréed Meals be delivered to an office building?

Yes. Please let your sales associate know that the delivery address is a place of business.

 

Do you ship to Canada, Alaska or Hawaii?

Not at this time.  We deliver to the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia.
